Becky Cox

Rebecca Yeager Cox , originally from New York, discovered her passion for dance when she moved to North Carolina and enrolled at the Cary School of Ballet. She attended many summer programs on scholarship and then extended her training in Winston-Salem, where she graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts.   After school, she spent a year dancing with William Starrett's Columbia City Ballet. After that she moved to Lakeland, Florida to join a contemporary ballet company fusing ballet, jazz, and contemporary. She worked her way up to company manager and principal dancer at Florida Dance Theatre. In 2011, she choreographed Lasso's and Plateaus with an original score by Drew Michael Cox, which was premiered at The Miami Dance Festival. While in Florida, she was a performer and artist with the innovative, Drip, for their Riff rock show and she also filmed Beautiful: An Original Flying Show, as the title character Beautiful. Over the summer of 2011, Rebecca attended Alonzo King's Lines Ballet's professional summer intensive on scholarship. Rebecca is excited to share her unique approach and love for the art of dance with The Dance Attic!
