Since the opening of The Dance Attic in 1988, all dancers from The Dance Attic have been pushed with technical rigor, while growing in a nurturing, inclusive, creative space. Creating and fostering this holistic environment for dancers of all ages and levels stands at the core of our dance studio. The Dance Attic is also an active part of the Wake Forest community through outreach and performance opportunities. When you ask those involved with TDA what their favorite thing about the studio is, many will answer “The Family Atmosphere.”
How did it begin? The Dance Attic First Opened in 1988 and was located in the “Attic” of an insurance company on Main St. in Rolesville, NC. Ms. Wanda Lynam Percise, the original owner and director of The Dance Attic, has owned, operated, and managed this studio for over 35 years. By 2000, The Dance Attic had outgrown its “Attic” therefore Ms. Wanda and her dance family were thrilled to relocate into the current location in the Friendship Center on South Main Street in Wake Forest, NC. After the relocations and expansion over the years, TDA now has 5 studio spaces, 2 dressing rooms, 2 offices, and 2 lobbies.
Where can you see The Dance Attic Perform? All dancers at The Dance Attic are involved in our end of season performance in June. Our recitals are open to the public and we love celebrating all of the dancers hard work in this culmination of performances. Furthermore, All of our dancers enrolled in our “Combo” Classes as well as our advanced hour long classes will participate in one local competition a year. The Dance Attic staff is proud that our entire staff and all of the dancers at the age to be in competitive classes, represent themselves well, and that we exceed the expectations of a recreational program going to a competition, competing against other Competitive teams and studios.
Looking to further your dance education? If your dancer is looking for more commitment and challenge in their dance experience, our competitive team (TDAC) was created in 2005 to allow for dancers to expand on their dance education. The Dance Attic Company travels to multiple competitions throughout the season and has more requirements than our recreational program. CLICK HERE for more information on our competitive team.
Both our recreational as well as our competitive programs have grown immensely throughout the years, and we are happy to be dancing with a family with over 225 dancers!
